report notes | more reports

1. Byrnes (6-1) - In our preseason preview of the Byrnes Rebels talented squad, everyone but Craig Weick stood out. So far this season, Weick is one of the leading receiver for the Rebels, consistently performing every week. QB Chas Dodd was looked down on by many colleges, but he has risen to prominence as the team leader and one of the best passers in the nation. The Rebels would be undefeated had they not turned the ball over so many times against St. Thomas, but until a team in this area can top Byrnes, this team is still #1.

2. Dorman (7-0) - The Cavaliers held on to a 14-12 victory over Mauldin after a terrible first half of football. All season long, Dorman has been a second-half team, but in Week 7 it nearly cost them the chance for an undefeated season and Coach Gutshall's 300th win.  Johnny Foster and Charone Peake lead the talented offense, but before Week 9's matchup against Byrnes, the Cavaliers face the threatening Boiling Springs Bulldogs.

3. Woodruff (7-0)- After seven weeks of football, Jake Lambert has notched 2200+ yards and 29 TDs. A few weeks ago, he was also the Wolverines leading rusher until Shun Tribble broke into the spotlight with three consecutive 100+ yard performances. Unfortunately for Lambert, Tribble's success could hurt the star QB's chances of breaking state records, but the RB's impact on the team helps improve Woodruff's chances of dominating 2A football on the way to a state title.

4. Boiling Springs (7-0) - The Bulldogs return to the Power 4 after previous #4 Mauldin lost a close game to Dorman. The team is off to its first 7-0 start in school history, and QB Dylan Thompson is fooling every opposing defense that comes his way. The future USC QB threw for over 300 yards against Hillcrest, and the team looks ready for an upset in Week 8 when the Bulldogs travel to #2 Dorman.
