The top 4 football teams from last week remain the same, but the bottom of the rankings shake up after a week of great football.

report notes | more reports

1. Byrnes (5-0) - Nearly 600 yards offense and 60 points in one game is quite an accomplishment against 4A powerhouse Gaffney, but the Byrnes Rebels made it look easy against the team's greatest foe. Marcus Lattimore ran for 3 TDs and Chas Dodd  threw for 200 yards and 2 TDs. Rebels WR Torian Richardson finally performed to his potential with a receiving touchdown and another he ran in from the end. On the Rebels, offense, however, it's pretty easy to fade in the background when the team has 7 dangerous weapons. On October 2nd, Byrnes travels to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to face #1 St. Thomas Aquinas. The game will be televised at 8pm on ESPNU, and you will not want to miss this matchup of the top two teams in the country.

2. Dorman (5-0) - The Cavaliers faced each challenge with ease this season, and the team seems to have as many offensive weapons as the Rebels. Offensive stars so far have been Charon Peake, A.J. Booker, Johnny Foster, Raymond Smith, Rob Greene, and Avery Bomar. Booker, a junior RB, began receiving offers at the beginning of the season after picking apart opposing defenses. On October 23rd, the Cavaliers travel to Nixon Field to take on the Rebels to see if the junior stars Booker and Peake can help their team defeat the Rebels two years in a row.

3. Woodruff (5-0) - QB Jake Lambert just might be in a slump - he's only thrown 7 TDs in the past two games. His season total reached 23 after he led the Wolverines over Blacksburg 42-0. The receiving core might as well make itself a Touchdown Club if Josh Hyman, B.J. Johnson, and Amos Moates continue to be in Lambert's eye. Woodruff's defense is also improving, thanks to strong play by Braelen Meredith, who is one of the state's top tacklers.

4. Boiling Springs (5-0) - If it weren't for penalties in Week 5, Boiling Springs could possibly have scored 50 points against a winless Emerald squad. Despite both runningbacks going down with injuries, QB Dylan Thompson scampered for 150+ rushing yards and totaled 3 TDs. The Bulldogs offense averages 47 points this season, and could shake things up in region play.
