Mauldin 47, Hillcrest 19 No surprises here. Mauldin wins their fourth straight game in the Golden Strip rivalry as Jeremiah McKie lit up the Hillcrest defense. Aramus McDowell, however, was still a huge playmaker for Hillcrest, catching another long pass from QB Mcamis for a TD. Last week, McDowell was featured on our Play of the Week, but this time it wasn't game-changing, and the Mauldin Mavs dominated on both sides of the ball.

Carolina 38, Woodmont 27 Trojan coach Mark Hodge brought out a Carolina team that shocked the Upstate with a huge win against a talented Woodmont team. Down 20-6, Carolina stormed back with a few defensive plays to bring them out on top 38-27.
Woodruff 59, Greer 34 Jake Lambert threw 7 TDs in a blowout win against 3A Greer, proving that the Wolverines may be one of the best teams in all Upstate football after beating Dorman and Laurens in preseason jamborees. Lambert also had a rushing TD, but the Wolverines had difficulty containing Dominique Parks, who rushed for nearly 300 yards and 3 TDs. Both teams showed weakness in certain areas of defense, but offensively had no problem lighting up the endzone for nearly 100 total points in Week 1.

Dorman 42, Gaffney 17 Charone Peake may not be Dorman's biggest weapon, as RB A.J. Booker scored 4 TDs against Gaffney, adding to his two previous TDs from Week 0. The Indians struggled most with turnovers, which thwarted several scoring attempts. All facets of the Cavalier offense seemed unstoppable and QB Johnny Foster even had a great game passing the football for nearly 200 yards. Keep an eye out for Dorman to roll through most of the season.

Belton-Honea Path 26, Laurens 21 Belton-Honea Path may just fulfill those early season predictions of playoff potential. Laurens lost great offensive weapons from last season, and B-HP made the best of their offseason improvements to defeat a solid 4A team to start off the season.
South Pointe 55, JL Mann 7 This game wasn't even close. If anyone doubted South Pointe after losing Stephon Gilmore, Week 1 proved the Stallions are still contenders. JL Mann was no match for the defending 4A Div II champs, and need to regroup for their last season in 3A play before becoming a 4A school next season.
