Playoff Preview
25 area teams made the playoffs. Friday night, few were sure what the outcome of Region III-3A would be. Just as we thought, Union County won the region tiebreaker, but fortunately all four teams with the 3-2 region record made the playoffs! Daniel and Woodruff each have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs in 3A and 2A, respectively. The Upstate has 12 teams in the 3A playoffs alone, and this playoffs should be very exciting as we should see more than one area team in the state championships this year!

Chris Miller did not allow his Rebels to be upset by Dorman two season in a row, and contained the potent Cavaliers offense to a mere 10 points. Byrnes remains #3 in the USA Today Super 25, and the Rebels are on the road to their 10th state championship.

The Mavs came out strong in Week 9 with this huge play to get Tiquention Coleman in the endzone and Mauldin never looked back. The "Hook and Ladder" is a rare trick play in football, but Mauldin executed it perfectly. Jeremiah McKie hit Anthony Stevens on his route, who then tossed it to speedster Tiquention Coleman for the score.

Dorman 39, Boiling Springs 15, II-4A
The Bulldogs drove down the field on their first drive for a touchdown, but Dorman took over in the second quarter and never looked back. Charon Peake turned out to be a highlight reel scoring 3 total TDs in the game, but the Dorman defense forced 6 turnovers and 2 safeties to boost the Cavaliers to a perfect 8-0 record.

The Lions defense continued its dominance over region opponents by stuffing a talented B-HP offense in what once promised to be an upset.

Pendleton could not capitalize on great drives, and Abbeville's offense was unstoppable in the first half. On a Pendleton drive in the 3rd quarter, the Bulldogs fumbled an Abbeville returned the ball 76 yards for a TD to seal the victory.

This game turned out as hoped when both teams headed into overtime and Greer took the much-needed region win over a tough Clinton team. After Union's loss, Greer is tied for the top spot at 2-1 in region play.

Boiling Springs is 6-0 for the first time in school history. Coach Bruce Clark underwent a major neck surgery in July and spent two months recovering in Atlanta. His struggles inspired the team to play with more intensity, and now the Bulldogs are a legitimate threat in 4A football. Coach Clark is in his second season with the Bulldogs with a 14-4 record. So far this season, Boiling Springs has met every challenge with ease, and the adversities the team met in the offseason could be its advantage down the stretch against tough region opponents.
