Coach David Lipsey has coached the Union County Yellow Jackets through some pretty tough times, including a consolidation in 2007 in which Union, Jonesville and Lockhart combined schools as Union County High. The first season in consolidation Coach Lipsey led the Yellow Jackets to a region title and the Upper State Finals. This season, however, the team started off 0-3 and things looked bleak for Union. Since that start, the Yellow Jackets have won 5 of their last 8 games and came out #1 in the region thanks to a tiebreaker.
The Yellow Jackets have only scored 115 points all season (11.5 points per game), which is the lowest of any playoff team this season. Coach Lipsey has found ways to win thanks to his strong defensive scheme, so keep on the lookout when Union hosts Chapin in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.
Congratulations Coach Lipsey!
