5. Mauldin (5-0) - The Mavs seem to alternate 40 and 60 point games, which is not good news for next week's opponent Easley. Mauldin put up 41 points on a winless Laurens team, but the Mavs also allowed 32 points. Unless Mauldin can straighten out its defense, the team can only hope QB Jeremiah McKie can lead the offense to outscore region opponents Byrnes, Dorman, and Boiling Springs.
6. Daniel (5-0) - 21 points. That's all Daniel's defense has given up so far this season, and as long as the Lions use Deandre Hopkins and Branden Anderson to propel its offense, the team can begin region play this week with little worries. The first two opponents in region play are still winless (Woodmont and Seneca), which will give the Lions a chance to prepare the team for the only obstacle in the way of another region title - Belton-Honea Path.
7. Abbeville (4-1) - Since the Week 3 one-point loss against Woodruff, the Panthers has kept its offense rolling. The team is led by QB Jermaine Thackson, who is having an outstanding year. The A-Bone attack added a passing element this season, and the Abbeville seems motivated to do its best before the school moves down to classification A next year (more on that to come).
8. Clinton (4-1) - Another team stunned by the Wolverines early in the season, Clinton proved themselves to be a threat in 3A football after defeating previously unbeaten Belton-Honea Path. The Red Devils team is well-balanced on offense and defense, and could be a threat for the 3A state championship.
