If you're wondering what it takes to watch football teams practice this summer, here are five keys to success.

Football season is finally starting!
Are you ready for your team to take the field and poise themselves as contenders? If so, and you're a big enough fan to watch your team practice, you might want to take these five things into consideration.

1. Bring a nice lawn chair and some sunscreen.
When football practice starts on July 31st, there isn't much room for comfort. So bring your own chair and some protection from the brutal sun.

2. Show your appreciation
Cheering your team on at a practice will really test your school spirit - they don't bring the same excitement as they do under those bright lights on Friday. Besides, what football player doesn't want to hear some motivation from the fans when his playing position is on the line.

Did you know?

If football teams use full gear or make contact before August 4th they could be banned from making the playoffs by the SCHSL? So make sure nothing illegal happens when you're watching.

3. Pay attention
If you pay close attention to what happens at practice, you may be able to predict which plays the coach will call during the season. And when your friends wonder how you knew the play, you can thank those wonderful hours out on the practice field.

4. Let your summer reading tag along
When the team takes a water break or gathers in a huddle and you're already quenched and stocked full of gridiron knowledge, take a few minutes to embrace your summer reading. Then when the team takes the field again, you're under less pressure to kill a mockingbird.

5. Take pictures!!
Bring your camera to practice and take pictures of players and coaches. Then what do you do?
Upload them on HighSchoolPlaybook.com and win prizes!
